Eye Exams

At Ashtead Eye Clinic, we do things differently.

At your eye exam, you will be under the care of highly qualified experienced optometrists who will spend the time getting to know you, your eyes, your lifestyle and your needs. We normally book 60 minutes for adult patients and 30 minutes for children. We may ask you to book a further appointment for extra procedures like dilation and fields if they need to be investigated further.

At many opticians’ practices, eye tests last around 20 minutes and an assistant may run tests before handing you over to a qualified optometrist for the remainder. At AEC your comprehensive eye test will be in the hands of a qualified optometrist from the beginning to end with no rush and may take up to 45 minutes.

Our eye exams are meticulously safe.

Eye Exams are all about eye health.

Nothing concerns us more than the long-term health of your eyes. We use the very latest in cutting-edge diagnostic technology to look at your eyes in microscopic detail; a magnified view of your blood vessels which no other professional can without invasive procedures – so an eye test is the perfect time to conduct a very thorough eye examination and more!

Every eye exam does a lot more than just check what you can see. It can detect early signs of eye conditions such as eye infections, iritis, glaucoma, cataracts and macular degeneration as well as underlying health conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, arthritis, autoimmune disorders, high cholesterol and thyroid disease.

The more thorough your exam, the more likely we can detect eye and general diseases. The more regular your eye exam, the more likely that any potential conditions can be picked up and detected early and be treated early. That is peace of mind for both you and our dedicated team of experts.

We have implemented personal high quality care in a safe environment during COVID-19.

All our instruments are thoroughly disinfected with hospital grade disinfectants (Perasafe and Clinell) and we have administered UVC cleaning for small instruments and spectacle frames. For your safety our staff will wear hospital grade masks and use gloves, aprons and shields (face and instrument shields) when appropriate. We have placed four hand sanitiser stations throughout the store for your safety and will appreciate that you will follow social distancing rules in store. Welcome to a safe and expert AEC!
